What Vocaland is
Vocaland is a vocabulary learning app that helps users add words, learn them through short sessions, review them with spaced repetition, track progress, create decks, share decks privately, and learn together with friends.
Some features require an account so your learning progress, decks, friends, achievements, and app experience can sync across devices.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide, improve, protect, and personalize Vocaland.
2.1 Account information
When you create or use a Vocaland account, we may collect:
- your email address
- your Sign in with Apple identifier, if you use Apple login
- your display name
- your selected avatar
- your account ID
- your login method
- account creation date
- account settings and preferences
If you sign in with email, Vocaland does not store your password. Email login is designed to work without storing a password in our systems.
If you sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with your email address and name depending on your Apple settings.
2.2 Learning data
To make Vocaland work, we store learning-related data connected to your account, including:
- languages you learn from and to
- saved words
- translations
- decks and custom collections
- built-in decks you use
- learning sessions
- review history
- spaced repetition progress
- learned words
- reviewed words
- streaks
- daily goals
- achievements
- leagues or tiers
- learning statistics by day, week, month, and all time
- app settings related to your learning experience
This data allows Vocaland to show your progress, sync your vocabulary between devices, and bring words back for review at the right time.
2.3 Custom decks and shared content
When you create custom decks, we may store:
- deck names
- deck icons, colors, or labels
- words and translations inside the deck
- deck language settings
- deck progress
- sharing status
- private share links or invite-related information
Decks you create are not made public by default.
If you share a deck using a link or with friends, people who receive access may be able to view or import that deck depending on the sharing settings. You should only share decks with people you trust.
2.4 Friends and social features
If you use friends, friend requests, leaderboards, or similar social features, we may collect and store:
- friend requests sent and received
- your friends list
- display name
- avatar
- streak
- number of learned words
- league or tier
- achievements
- leaderboard activity
- weekly learning activity
Your friends may be able to see your display name, avatar, streak, learned words, league or tier, and achievements.
We do not show your private email address to other users unless you choose to share it yourself.
2.5 Photos, screenshots, and text recognition
Vocaland may let you add words from photos, screenshots, or images from your gallery.
Text recognition is performed locally on your device.
The original photo, screenshot, or image is not stored by Vocaland after processing. We do not upload the original image to our servers for text recognition.
After text is detected, you can choose which words you want to save. The words, translations, and deck data you choose to save may be stored in your Vocaland account and synced across your devices.
If you do not save detected words, they are not added to your account.
2.6 Translation suggestions
Vocaland may suggest translations for detected or manually added words.
When you save a word and its translation, that saved vocabulary data may be stored in your account so it can be used for learning sessions, reviews, statistics, and syncing.
We do not store the original photo or screenshot after processing.
2.7 Subscription and purchase information
Vocaland may offer paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details.
We may use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, purchase status, entitlements, renewals, and access to paid features.
For this purpose, we may process:
- purchase status
- subscription status
- product ID
- entitlement status
- transaction identifiers
- renewal status
- app user ID
- limited device or account identifiers needed to manage purchases
Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase-related information according to their own privacy policies.
2.8 Notifications
Vocaland may send reminders and learning notifications.
Most learning reminders, streak reminders, and review reminders are local notifications generated on your device.
For features such as friend requests, we may use server-based push notifications. In that case, we may process:

- device notification settings

- account ID related to the notification

2.9 App usage, analytics, and diagnostics
We may collect information about how Vocaland is used to improve the app, understand feature performance, fix bugs, and make the experience better.

Vocaland stores account and learning data using Supabase and our own backend systems.

Some data may also be stored locally on your device to make the app faster and available during normal use.
The original photos and screenshots used for text recognition are not stored by Vocaland after processing.
Third-party services we use
We may use third-party service providers to operate, improve, analyze, and protect Vocaland.

Apple
Used for App Store distribution, Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, subscriptions, app analytics, device permissions, and push notification systems.
RevenueCat
Used to manage subscriptions, purchase status, entitlements, and paid feature access.
Mixpanel
Used for product analytics, feature usage analysis, and app improvement.
Vercel

Text recognition is performed locally on your device. Original photos or screenshots are not stored by Vocaland after processing.
Notifications
Used for learning reminders, review reminders, streak reminders, friend request alerts, and similar app notifications.
You can disable permissions at any time in your device settings.
Friends, leaderboards, and visibility
If you use friends or leaderboard features, some learning activity may become visible to your friends.
Friends may see:
- your display name
- your avatar
- your streak
- learned word count
- league or tier
- achievements
- leaderboard position or weekly activity
We design these features to be limited and learning-focused.
Your private decks are not automatically public. Shared decks are only accessible when you choose to share them.
Private deck sharing
Vocaland may let you share custom decks through links or directly with friends.
Shared decks are not intended to be publicly listed or searchable by default.
However, if you send a link to someone, they may be able to access the deck through that link depending on the sharing settings. You are responsible for choosing what you share and with whom.
Do not include private, sensitive, confidential, or copyrighted content in decks you share unless you have the right to do so.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
In general:
- account data is kept while your account is active
- learning data is kept while your account exists so your progress can sync
- saved words and decks are kept until you delete them or delete your account
- shared decks may remain available until deleted or disabled
- purchase and subscription records may be kept as needed for access, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal compliance
- support messages may be kept as long as needed to respond and maintain support records
- analytics data may be stored in aggregated, pseudonymous, or provider-managed form according to the relevant provider’s retention settings
- backups may retain deleted data for a limited period before they are automatically overwritten or removed
Original photos and screenshots used for text recognition are not stored by Vocaland after processing.
Account deletion and data deletion
You can request deletion of your Vocaland account and associated personal data.
If Vocaland offers account creation, we will provide a way to initiate account deletion from inside the app or through support.
When your account is deleted, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account unless we need to keep certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or App Store-related reasons.
Some data may remain in backups for a limited time before being deleted automatically.
